"White Face" parties with "Mrs.Baker" - Nov.6, 2000
Producer Scott Schill quickly won over the audience when he unfurled a 20 foot long legal statement and then tore it to shreds. "We're here to have fun and celebrate the completion of WHITE FACE." Schill then introduced Seattle screenwriter and filmmaker Mark Handley.

Handley, who also made an introduction and an investment at the April MRS.BAKER event, spoke of his relationship with fellow filmmaker Kris Kristensen. He commented on how Kristensen, who shot Handley's THE GOOD EGG, was not only a calming presence throughout the shoot, but that he was also essential element during the scheduling, budgeting and post-production process. "The film could not have been made without Kris."

Handley then went on to introduce WHITE FACE's writer/director, Brian McDonald. "Many of you already know Brian McDonald the writer, but tonight I have the privilege of introducing Brian McDonald, the director."

MRS. BAKER director Kristensen (L) and WHITE FACE director McDonald (R).
Before screening WHITE FACE, McDonald went on to tell an anecdote about trying to find Roman numerals on his word processing program. "I looked through every page of the instruction book, and there was nothing in the index or the contents about Roman numerals. And then I remembered that Roman numerals are letters. They're letters!" After the audience laughter died down, he continued, "The point of this story is not to illustrate that I'm an idiot, but to demonstrate that sometimes I need help. And I couldn't have done this film without the help of many of the people here tonight." He thanked the cast and crew and then screened WHITE FACE before a full house of over 100 attendees.

The film was well received. After the applause stifled, McDonald then introduced the members of the cast to audience who mostly appeared in the film disguised in clown make-up. WHITE FACE is a humorous look at the daily discriminations that clowns might encounter were they an actual race of people.

Kristensen, who shot, cut and co-produced WHITE FACE, then introduced an investor's promo for their upcoming film MRS.BAKER. "People always ask Brian and myself 'what kind of films do you want to make?' I find this to be a bizarre question, as if we only wanted to work inside of one genre. The answer to that question is 'We want to make good films.' WHITE FACE was a comedy and now we want to make MRS.BAKER, a horror film." MRS.BAKER is a psychological horror film about a young woman who struggles to retain control of her body which is being possessed by the spirit of her dead benefactress.

The MRS.BAKER promo was prefaced by a testament from producer Paul (NBC's FREAKS & GEEKS) Feig. Feig declared his support for MRS.BAKER and encouraged the audience to stand behind McDonald and Kristensen and get involved.

Afterwards fellow producer Lisa Halpern encouraged the audience to get involved because "This movie is going to happen, and we'd love you all to part of it."
