Cain & Abbey - March 7, 2001
Actress Katheryn Cain has been offered the part of Abbey in feature film Mrs. Baker. Cain has accepted the role, and Mrs. Baker producers are now negotiating with Cain's agent.

Producers Kris Kristensen, Brian McDonald and Lisa Halpern were introduced to Cain at this year's Slamdance Film Festival where she was starring in the film The Trouble With Lou.

Mrs. Baker
director, Kristensen, said that, "While I was watching Lou, I thought that Katheryn was perfect for the part of Abbey. I was really impressed with her ability to play the broad comedy of Lou in a very low-key manner, which made me think that she could easily handle a drama. She played the humor completely straight, never going for any obvious laughs."

During the screening, Kristensen leaned over to co-writer McDonald, and suggested Cain for the part of Abbey. McDonald was thinking the exact same thing. When the lights came up, they turned to fellow producer Halpern who was in complete agreement with them.

After spending some time with her McDonald said, "Katheryn seems like a movie star in the making." Halpern added, "Katherine is a talented, versatile actress - I'm certain we'll brag that 'we knew her when...'"

In addition to her work in The Trouble With Lou, Cain's previous credits include The Pornographer and The Distraction.
