This Doc's for Real - May 9, 2004

The team behind the award winning film White Face has reteamed for another doc., only this time it's real. White Face, director Brian McDonald has been invited to direct a real documentary as part of the Seattle International Film Festival's Fly Filmmaking Program.

The Fly Film is part filmmaking, part challenge. Filmmakers are given one week to shoot a five minute film, and another week to edit it. The subject is sprung on the filmmaker two weeks before their scheduled shoot dates. This year's theme is neighborhoods, and McDonald drew "Belltown".

The result is a film titled Flickering Memories, a moving reflection of a movie theater that no longer exists. The film reteams McDonald with White Face's co-producer/Dir. of Photography/Editor, Kris Kristensen, this time he only wore one hat, serving as editor. The film was shot by Marcus Donner, who's photography work can be found throughout the Scotopia Pictures site.

The film will screen at the Seattle International Film Festival:

Sunday, May 30, 1:30 PM
The Egyptian Theater

Friday, June 11, 4:30 PM
