Within the last year the feature film Inheritance, produced by Scotopia Pictures, secured a foreign distribution agreement and is in the process of seeking the best domestic distribution deal possible.  Thus far the offers for domestic distribution have been video only, not theatrical.  Why? Domestic distributors tell us that they believe it is a " Great film ," " Suspenseful ," " It kept me on the edge of my seat ," etc., but the one element that seems to be standing between us and a theatrical deal is that... "There's no star in the film."

We would like to show the distributors that they are incorrect and we are experimenting with a novel approach to getting that message across.

How are the distributors wrong about the starpower of the film?

They have not yet fully opened their eyes to the massive Xbox/Nintendo/Sega gaming community where Inheritance lead actress Jen Taylor is known and loved by millions.

Jen Taylor has acquired an obsessive following among the more than four million players of the wildly successful Xbox/Microsoft HALO game series.  Jen is the voice of one of the key characters -- Cortana.

From 4/2/04 Microsoft press release entitled Dream Team: HALO and Special Edition Xbox Make Gamers Green with Envy : "Hailed as 'absolutely brilliant' by Electronic Gaming Monthly, 'HALO' is a futuristic odyssey that challenges players to save humankind from extermination by aliens. . . .[HALO] has sold more than 4 million copies worldwide and spawned a legion of powerful devotess who participate in competitions and game nights."

These legions spend a good deal of time on chat boards speculating about Jen Taylor.  Many of them find the Inheritance website and send fan-mail to us.   Because this kind of cross-platform popularity is somewhat novel, we have to prove to potential distributors that there is a built in audience waiting to see our film.

How can you help?  Show the distributors that Jen is a star.   

All you have to do is sign the petition, which basically states that you look forward to the release of Inheritance .  Once we gain some serious momentum, we will show the petition to our Producer's rep., so that they can use it to illustrate to distributors that there is a large audience awaiting the release of Inheritance .

So, even if you've never heard of Jen Taylor or HALO , but would like to just help us out, please sign the petition to increase our chances of getting distribution.  When you're done, please take a minute to e-mail anyone you know who might be interested in helping as well.
