The Rodeo Is Here!! - 12/12/07

"It's always been my dream to have girls serve me steak in outer space," is how Brent Amaker, lead-man for Brent Amaker & The Rodeo, recounts his latest music video. "Thanks to movie magic that dream has been come true."

"I read an article in a local paper that described Brent Amaker & The Rodeo as sounding like Johnny Cash, dressing in black and wearing lone ranger masks. That's when I decided I gotta see these guys." This is how director Kris Kristensen discovered Brent Amaker & the Rodeo aka BAR.

Kristensen met with Amaker and pitched an idea for almost every song on the album. "Brent opted to go with Sissy New-Age Cowboy, because the song is about calling out all the fake country western singers currently out there. The idea was to shoot a rap video with cowboys. These aren't your "urban" pretty boy country singers, we wanted to convey an image of guys that'll kick your ass for if you look at them sideways."

The video was filmed at the now defunct Seattle landmark Man-Ray Video Bar. Kristensen explains "We postponed the shoot twice because we couldn't find the proper location. We needed a location that would be in stark contrast to the cowboy image, so we wanted something super futuristic looking, and Man-Ray was gracious enough to let us film there. We got a great 2001: A Space Odyssey feeling to the piece."

Amaker is thrilled with the piece and called it "Really amazing."

Kristensen summarized "We think the piece is gonna be huge in Japan."
