Savi pairs with Seattle indie movie "Mrs. Baker"
to provide wardrobe and SPONSOR Investor Party

Investor Party to attract Seattle's film scene and support local filmmakers

BELLEVUE, Wash. - April 27, 2000 - Savi, the local fine men's clothier, and its Web site, SaviShopper.com, is underwriting an investor party for local filmmakers Kris Kristensen and Brian McDonald to fund a movie based on their award-winning script, Mrs. Baker. The movie is scheduled to be filmed in Seattle for four weeks beginning in August.

The investor party will be held at The Big Picture at 2505 on First Ave. in Seattle on Thursday, April 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

"Investor parties for new movies are a rare event in Seattle. The film industry has dwindled here over the last few years with the growth of Vancouver's industry. But now the explosion of independent films coupled with the accomplished Hollywood actors and the dot-com economy here could push Seattle back to the forefront as a filming destination in the Northwest," said David Le Penske, Savi's vice president of strategic marketing. In addition to sponsoring the investor party, Savi will provide the wardrobe for the movie's lead character.

Mrs. Baker is an independent film that will be produced by Seattle's Scotopia Pictures with a project $1.4 million budget. Co-writer Kristensen will also direct the movie. The script took third place at the Austin Film Festival out of 3,100 entries.
